BEMAC is renowned for showcasing the innovative work of multicultural artists often overlooked by mainstream institutions. Our programming is inspiring and responsive, examining discourses on multiculturalism, migration, and identity.
For nearly four decades, BEMAC has been at the forefront of multicultural arts in Queensland. Established in 1987 by passionate advocates and artists, we have grown to become the state’s leading producer, presenter, and artistic development organization for multicultural arts.
We leverage the arts as a platform to pose difficult questions, challenge entrenched ideas, and enable change.
While our focus is on championing culturally diverse artists, we are committed to broader inclusion. We strive for a gender-balanced, discrimination-free industry and work to remove barriers to participation and enjoyment of the arts for people of all abilities.
